A Journey through Grain, Malt and Magic – Tour
Tours by Brodie / Select Scotland Tours

Discover the care, expertise, and craftsmanship demonstrated by the grain specialist, farmer, and distiller to produce world-renowned Scotch Whisky.

We will start the journey at Aberdeen Grain at Whiterashes, a farmer owned grain cooperative, where Kate Blues, Manager, will describe their part in testing, drying and storage of the grain to ensure it reaches the maltster in the best possible condition.

At Ardmiddle Farm near Turriff, we will meet farmer Andrew Ferguson who will explain what it takes to grow the best quality spring barley that will be accepted as ‘malting barley’ by the Maltsters.

Teas, coffee plus homemade scones and shortbread will be served on the farm.

We will make our way to Knockdhu Distillery, near Cornhill where the team will talk you through the traditional distilling methods they undertake, using the malting barley to produce their own anCnoc Whisky.

Finally, we have the opportunity to choose from 100s of different whiskies with a qualified malt whisky retailer, Duncan and Taylor, Huntly, explaining the subtle differences between different brands and ages of whisky.
